You may need to deactivate your license before moving the software to a new computer, reinstalling your OS, or replacing your machine. Select your product to jump to the right instructions.

Can't access the computer on which you need to deactivate the license? Here's how to deactivate from another PC.

EthoVision

The steps depend on which license type you have. If you're not sure, check under Help > About in EthoVision.

Floating license

No deactivation needed. Your seat is released automatically when you close EthoVision XT. You can open the software on any other computer straight away.

Computer-locked license — online

  1. Open EthoVision on the computer where the license is currently active.
  2. Go to Help > Deactivate License.
  3. Confirm the deactivation. EthoVision connects to the license server and releases the license.
  4. Your license is now free to activate on another computer. 

Computer-locked license — offline

  1. Open EthoVision on the computer where the license is currently active.
  2. Go to Help > Deactivate License and select offline deactivation.
  3. A QR code appears on screen. Scan it with your smartphone and follow the steps to complete the deactivation.
  4. Your license is now free to activate on another computer.

FaceReader

What if you can't access the computer?

Sometimes a software license remains active on a computer that you can no longer access or use, for example:

  • The computer is broken or replaced
  • A student or employee left without deactivating the software
  • The software was uninstalled without first deactivating the license
