CatWalk XT 10: Troubleshooting Startup Issues

CatWalk XT 10 may fail to start if the camera is not connected correctly, if file access is restricted, or if settings files are corrupted. Below are the common causes and solutions.

Camera Not Connected Properly

This issue typically occurs only when the walkway is connected and powered on. If the software starts correctly after turning off the walkway, the issue is likely with the camera connection.

Solution:

  • Turn off the walkway.
  • Wait 10 seconds.
  • Turn it back on and wait 1–2 minutes before opening CatWalk.

This resets the camera and resolves most connectivity issues.

Insufficient Access Rights

CatWalk will not start if you're using a Guest or restricted Windows account.

Additionally, if the first person to run CatWalk after installation had administrator rights and you do not, it may fail to open.

Solution:

  • Delete the settings files (see below), then start CatWalk using a standard user account.
  • Opening CatWalk with an administrative account is fine as long as the first launch was with a regular account.

Corrupt Settings Files

Corrupted or invalid settings files may prevent CatWalk from opening.

Settings file location:

  • C:\ProgramData\Noldus\CatWalk\XT 10.6\Settings\

Note: ProgramData is a hidden folder. Enable hidden folders to access it.

Solution:

  • Remove one or more files from the folder above.
  • Try restarting CatWalk after each removal.
  • Missing files will be automatically recreated by the software.

If necessary, remove all settings files. Be aware that doing so resets custom settings like detection profiles.

Check the Log File

If the issue persists, a log file may contain diagnostic information.

Log file location:

  • C:\ProgramData\Noldus\CatWalk\XT 10.6\Log\

Note: ProgramData is a hidden folder. Enable hidden folders to access it.

Send the log file to Noldus Support for further assistance.
