Ensuring Proper Driver for Basler GigE Camera Network Adapter

To maximize Basler camera performance, the Basler software installs a special Basler GigE Vision Adapter driver to replace the default Intel driver on the network card. However, Windows may revert to the Intel driver, causing performance issues such as low frame rates or Error ID 12015 ("Trial duration does not correspond with system time") in EthoVision XT.

Step-by-Step Instructions to Check or Correct the Network Adapter Driver

  1. Open the Pylon IP Configurator tool.
    • Look for it on your desktop or in the Start menu under Basler.
  2. Identify the Ethernet adapter used by the Basler camera.
  3. Right-click the adapter and select Properties.
  4. Click Configure, then go to the Driver tab.
  5. Click Update DriverBrowse my computer for driversLet me pick from a list of available drivers.
  6. Select Basler GigE Vision Adapter from the list.
    • If it doesn’t appear, uncheck Show compatible hardware and locate it under the Intel list.
  7. Click Next. Confirm any prompts that ask whether you’re sure you want to install the driver.

If the Basler GigE Vision Adapter is already in use:

  1. Try switching temporarily to the Intel Gigabit Pro driver.
  2. Apply changes, then repeat the steps above to re-select the Basler GigE Vision Adapter.

Optional: Prevent Windows from Automatically Reverting the Driver

  1. Right-click the Start menu and select System.
  2. Click Advanced system settings on the right panel.
  3. Open the Hardware tab.
  4. Click Device Installation Settings.
  5. Select No (your device might not work as expected) and click Save Changes.

This will stop Windows from automatically replacing the Basler driver with the default Intel one after system updates.

Tip: After applying changes, restart the computer and reopen EthoVision XT to verify that the camera is recognized and running smoothly.
