EthoVision will report that the USB I/O Box is not connected if the connection is lost or if it is not present when you attempt to start the experiment or test connections. Use the guidance below to troubleshoot this situation.
EthoVision will only detect the box if it is connected when EthoVision starts. If you plug in the I/O Box after starting EthoVision, close EthoVision and reopen it.
Besides the connected Noldus or third-party hardware (via TTL or SDI ports), there are two main cables required. These connections apply to both the USB I/O Box and the Mini USB I/O Box:
If both cables are connected and the box is still not detected by EthoVision, verify that the computer recognizes the device:
If you do not see this device, the driver may be missing, or the I/O box may be malfunctioning.
You might receive a connection error if the incorrect interface was selected when creating your experiment—for example, selecting the Mini USB I/O Box instead of the standard USB I/O Box. EthoVision will search for the wrong hardware and fail to detect it.
The USB I/O Box is labeled "USB-IO Box" and features 13 RJ45 ports labeled SDI Control and 12 RJ45 ports labeled TTL Control.
The Mini USB I/O Box is labeled "mini USB-IO box" and includes 4 RJ45 ports labeled TTL Control and 1 RJ45 port labeled SDI Control.
If you have assigned devices to the wrong interface, go back to that interface, remove the incorrect device assignments, and then add them under the correct interface. Alternatively, you can create a new experiment with the correct settings.
