After download, unzip the file and save the contents on your PC.
Double-click the exe file.
Select
Activate Software License Key
and click
OK
.
Choose whether the trial should be floating or fixed:
Floating
– if you are able to have an internet connection to your computers, a floating license gives you the added benefit of flexibly changing which of the computers you want to use for data acquisition.
Computer-locked
– this is the option for you if you don’t have an internet connection to the computer you want to acquire the data with. You can activate the computer-locked license with a one-off internet connection or using a QR code. You can still install and use EthoVision XT on other computers, just not for data acquisition, only for analysis.
Enter the activation key and click
OK
to start the trial.

EthoVision XT
Welcome to the EthoVision XT installation instructions. This section provides information about the EthoVision XT software, as well as documentation for the DanioVision and PhenoTyper hardware solutions. All additional manuals and instructions can be found in the Documentation tab.

EthoVision XT 18.0
System requirements
EthoVision XT 18.0 runs on Windows 10 Professional and Windows 11 Pro. Note that it is not designed for use with Windows Touch features.
If you have EthoVision XT 17.x or earlier, this is not a free upgrade. You will need an upgrade code to use the new version.
If you have a NoldusCare contract, the registered user has received an upgrade key. Otherwise, please contact your sales representative to purchase an upgrade.
Before you install EthoVision XT
New users: You should have received a software activation key. Keep this key ready when starting EthoVision XT.
Upgrading users: You should have received a license upgrade key by email. Keep it ready during installation.
Administrator rights: You must have administrator rights to install EthoVision XT.
Device driver updates: Turn off automatic updates for hardware device drivers. Keep Windows updates enabled for other components.
Regional settings: Avoid using a comma as the decimal separator. To change this:
Open Control Panel via Apps > Windows System.
Under Clock, Language, and Region, select Change date, time, or number formats.
Click Additional settings and adjust accordingly.
MediaRecorder: If installing both MediaRecorder and EthoVision XT on the same PC, install MediaRecorder first.
To install EthoVision XT
Close all programs and disable screen saver and power-saving settings. Ensure no applications are running in the background.
Download the ZIP file: EthoVision XT - Installation Package - [version number]. It may take time due to its size.
Extract the contents of the ZIP file and copy them to your computer.
Double-click EthoVision XT – Setup – [version number].exe. Select Standard as the installation type.
Select the appropriate drivers for your camera or encoder board:
Basler USB 3.0 cameras: Select Basler USB camera driver.
Basler GigE Vision cameras: Select Basler GigE camera driver.
Analog cameras: Select Euresys Multicam(works only with the Picolo Alert encoder board).
Complete the installation and launch EthoVision XT.
