EthoVision XT 18.0

System requirements

EthoVision XT 18.0 runs on Windows 10 Professional and Windows 11 Pro. Note that it is not designed for use with Windows Touch features.

  • If you have EthoVision XT 17.x or earlier, this is not a free upgrade. You will need an upgrade code to use the new version.
  • If you have a NoldusCare contract, the registered user has received an upgrade key. Otherwise, please contact your sales representative to purchase an upgrade.

Before you install EthoVision XT

  • New users: You should have received a software activation key. Keep this key ready when starting EthoVision XT.
  • Upgrading users: You should have received a license upgrade key by email. Keep it ready during installation.
  • Administrator rights: You must have administrator rights to install EthoVision XT.
  • Device driver updates: Turn off automatic updates for hardware device drivers. Keep Windows updates enabled for other components.
  • Regional settings: Avoid using a comma as the decimal separator. To change this:
    1. Open Control Panel via Apps > Windows System.
    2. Under Clock, Language, and Region, select Change date, time, or number formats.
    3. Click Additional settings and adjust accordingly.
  • MediaRecorder: If installing both MediaRecorder and EthoVision XT on the same PC, install MediaRecorder first.

To install EthoVision XT

  1. Close all programs and disable screen saver and power-saving settings. Ensure no applications are running in the background.
  2. Download the ZIP file: EthoVision XT - Installation Package - [version number]. It may take time due to its size.
  3. Extract the contents of the ZIP file and copy them to your computer.
  4. Double-click EthoVision XT – Setup – [version number].exe. Select Standard as the installation type.
  5. Select the appropriate drivers for your camera or encoder board:
    • Basler USB 3.0 cameras: Select Basler USB camera driver.
    • Basler GigE Vision cameras: Select Basler GigE camera driver.
    • Analog cameras: Select Euresys Multicam (works only with the Picolo Alert encoder board).
  6. Complete the installation and launch EthoVision XT.
  7. Choose your license type:
    • Floating: Requires internet access; allows flexible data acquisition on different computers.
    • Computer-lockedUse this if your data acquisition PC has no internet connection. Activation is possible via one-time internet or QR code.
  8. When prompted, enter your software activation key or upgrade key.

 IMPORTANT:

  • Do not choose a removable disk (e.g., USB stick) as the experiments location.
  • Installation will fail if only the EXE file is copied. Ensure all files from the ZIP package are copied to the same folder.

NOTE:  If you need to reinstall camera drivers, they are available in the Drivers and Tools tab.
